We were picked up by coach from the bottom of our hill at 5pm and by the time we got to Shakespeare House, the party was in full swing. It’s an absolutely beautiful place, very glamourous and oldy worldy. Would make the perfect set for an Agatha Christie film about the mysterious Levant. I must confess to having Shakespeare House Envy. Fabulous place and whilst I don’t envy the HC his job, I definitely wouldn’t mind having his house.
We enjoyed a splendid “picnic” supplied by our tablemates and everyone had a great time. The concert was supplied by the RAF Military Band who played a great selection of Beatles music, show tunes and of course in a final set, some rousing “British” flag waving tunes. There was also a performance from the RAF Wives Choir who are making a record for charity. And of course a charity raffle with some amazing prizes which unfortunately we did not win! The concert raised 8900 euro for charity which was fantastic.
We also met our neighbour, Alan, who was on a nearby table and reconnected with a couple, Mike and Zolfa, who I have corresponded with for possibly 20 years by email regarding travel, scuba diving and the BSAC but until last night had never actually met!!!!! That was really nice and we are going to meet up for dinner and also hopefully get a dive together before the end of the holiday.
We were picked up by the coach at around 11pm and home to bed, somewhat unsteadily (me, not Bob) by midnight. A great night out and if you’re in Cyprus during May it’s worth checking out when this annual event is and getting a ticket.
