Yesterday Bob had another day in the room which nearly drove him mad so he was glad to be feeling so much better when I got back from the beach at 330.
I decided to colour my hair with one of the packs I’d brought out. Got it in for the required time, went into the shower and started it running, got a handful of water to lubricate the dye and massaged it to a liquid level, then stepped back into the shower!!! Shriek!! It was totally scalding hot. I leapt out, thick brown dye running down my face and tried fiddling with the controls.. . No difference. My eyes started to really sting so I yelled for Bob. He came, grumbling that I must have had it set wrongly .. ..but had to change his tune. Even the toilet was flushing boiling hot water including the bidet hose. Could have been nasty!!!! Then the water stopped altogether. Bob rang down and Clive said there was a problem and it would soon be sorted. I was really in pain by now but luckily we had about 6 litre bottles of drinking water so Bob poured them over my head and face to get rid of as much dye as possible. The timing of the whole thing just couldn’t have been worse . I sat for about an hour waiting for the water system to recharge so I could have a proper shower. Frighteningly I realised my vision was clouded in my left eye so then we panicked a bit and I began sluicing my eyes with fresh water while Bob rustled up some eye drops from Susan. I was convinced that not only would I be left with eye damage but my hair would all fall out as a result of having the dye on so long.
Eventually the water system came back and I had a proper shower and we hastened off to Palolem where we were meeting the gang at Ciarans. A lovely Italian duo who we followed last year are playing there again every Saturday night. By the time we got there my eye wasn’t hurting anymore and my vision had cleared which was a huge relief. Had a lovely and very convivial evening. I had king prawns on a bed of vegetables which were delicious and Bob had the same thing. I had a basil zinger drink which was basil juice, gin, soda mixer. Sounds weird but it was absolutely delicious. I shall try to duplicate it at home. We were a big table of 14 but they coped with that very well and a great evening was had by all.
Put some eye drops in this morning which stung a bit in the left eye but my vision is fine thank goodness. Also my hair is ok too. So no harm done. Phew…….
Today we went for a day at Turtle Beach. A favourite way to spend a Sunday. Got there about 1015, asked Santosh to reserve us a table for 8, 5 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc, which he was happy to do!!!! Walked down to the rocks and met up with Stuart, Fi, Pamela, Eddie, Deborah and David. Much wallowing in the lagoon over the next few hours. The sea was too surfy today to go in. We wandered back to Santosh about 130 and had a long boozy lunch of mainly seafood. Bob and I had rawa fried oysters, rawa fried calamari and a dish of prawn sukhi and a plate of chips. All absolutely fantastic. Rawa is a sort of semolina which they use to make a crispy coating. Others had king prawns. I think we got through 7 or 8 bottles of white wine. Santosh even came up with some ice buckets!!! Our bill was about £22 with tip. We were stuffed.
Tuk’d back to Eve’s about 345 and had a big shower and then both fell asleep till 7pm. Woke up not very hungry. Lucy rang us and we had a 40 minute zoom with her and then wandered down to the beach. Bob went into the barber and had a shave and a hair cut – he’s totally back to normal today. I took a seat down near the sea in Roundcube and had a gin and soda while waiting for him. A blues duet were playing at Om Shanti next door and I enjoyed listening to them. We both just had a bowl of soup – spinach for me and chicken noodle for Bob and then turned in. Met Joseph and Janet, John and Sue on the way back. They’d been to Casa Jaali for dinner and Joseph and Janet had shared a meze board. Looked amazing.
Such a very nice day
