Hospital Results and Dinner at Royal Moon

Another absolutely gorgeous day of weather. Just perfect at the moment. Hot enough but still pleasant. Made a few calls this morning to see where we were with some projects. Rang Mermaid fabrics and our poolside dining chair cushions are being made at the moment. They will be ready on Monday. Then I rang the Kamiloglu hospital to see if all our results were back… and they were …. so we arranged to go in at 1pm to review them with the relevant doctors.

In fact we went down earlier to try and see the dermatologist doctor regarding a large wart Bob has on his ankle. He’s had it a long time but recently its grown a bit and his shoe rubs it, so it is sore. Never good to leave these things, in my opinion, so we asked if we could see him and he was immediately free. He examined Bob’s ankle, scraped at it,looked through a magnifying glass etc, pressed it and confirmed it was a wart, nothing sinister but that he advised it should come off. Bob agreed and he immediately injected a local anaesthetic into the area (which hurt) and then attacked Mr Wart with a laser. There was a bit of a roasting smell but no pain and it was all over in a few minutes. He put a dressing on and gave Bob a cream to apply twice daily.

I asked him to have a look at a couple bumps I have on my face and again after close analysis, he said they were little infected ducts in the skin and he showed me online photos. He gave me a prescription for salicylic acid and told me to apply it with a cocktail stick, very finitely to each place at night and that in a few weeks they would be gone, and to use sunscreen (which i always do anyway). He also said that I was using too hot water on my face which maybe had caused them. Wowzer.

Anyway, all this cost about £30 including the 2 prescriptions which we thought was simply brilliant. He’s a good guy, the same one who removed 4 large moles from Daisy a couple of years ago.

Then we went downstairs and went into see the main internal medicine consultant, who went through our results one by one with us. I was very happy that absolutely all of mine were in the normal/clear range including all the ultrasounds, chest x ray, ecg, mammogram, poo test, cervical smear and the huge number of blood tests including the cancer marker test. Bob’s too were ok except for the couple that we know about and are long term monitored conditions. Nothing too drastic. He always laughs at the utter irony of the fact that my liver is in excellent health and his is a bit enlarged, giving warnings that he must drink less. Of course he hardly drinks at all!! He has to go back and see the urologist/nephrologist on Tuesday. At the same time he is having a cortisone injection into his arthritic thumb which has flared up due to the “jobs”. We think these tests are money well spent and will continue to have them very regularly.

Had a quiet afternoon at the house. Just enjoying the sun and the garden. Had a zoom call to Stuart and Fi for a catch up in the early evening. So lovely to see them and hear their news

Tonight we met Heather and Chris for dinner at the Royal Moon in Alsancak. We’ve been before. It’s a weird little place like a wooden greenhouse with some broken windows. The saving grace is the food which is excellent Cypriot grills with a nice meze and prices that are about 2 years behind everyone else. I had a mixed grill and Bob had lamb chops. Always lovely to see Heather and Chris. Hadn’t seen them since Goa, so loads to catch up on.

Amazing sunsets these last nights.
