We were up at 530 to close up the cases and be ready for the taxi that was coming at 630. It had been a very clear night and the temperatures were below freezing. Looking out, there was such thick frost that it was difficult to tell it wasn’t snow. The taxi was on time and it was a smooth ride to Gatwick airport. £75 one way. This time it was the cheapest way to go. Check in was smooth and we said goodbye to our cases. Hope to see them again in Mumbai! Grabbed some breakfast in one of the cafes. Really, Gatwick gets more like a shopping mall every time we go! I had porridge in the spirit of trying to eat more healthily already. 🙂
The flight into Istanbul was full but smooth and just about 4 hours. We were late leaving for some reason but they caught it up. Had a couple of hours on the ground there. We mused about going into a lounge but there wasn’t quite enough time to make it worthwhile. Found some seats and tried fruitlessly to get online. The wifi was just not working which was unusual.
The next leg of the flight was even more full and the ground staff in Istanbul were utterly clueless at how to manage a 777 sized crowd of people, many of whom did not seem to understand the concept of queuing at all!!! It was a free for all. Unsurprisingly, this plane did not leave on time either. I had hoped to sleep on this leg but it was not to be. Watched the Steve Jobs film instead. We came into land early at around 510 in the morning.
Pretty smooth flights and no complaints regarding service on board.
