Cyprus Days

01b113bc74ecfb33846377a8d3845bf40acde77495Have had a relatively quiet weekend around the villa, just pottering and doing jobs.  Bob has been painting the pool overflow gulley, our equivalent of the Forth Road Bridge.  It’s looking good.

Habibi came this morning and cut down the tops of 3 of our Tulip trees.  Must be 15 feet off each of them.  So strange to suddenly get a big view down the valley back.  The trees look a bit brutal now but they will be softened again by next spring.  We have to do it or they get too big.

Last night we had a bbq by the pool just the two of us.   Tonight we had a fabulous dinner at our friends, Deborah and David’s house in Alsancak.  Pamela and Eddie were there too.  We each took a course.  Pamela made a really great chicken liver pate with pickles.  Deborah did the main which was a delicious Moroccan lamb stew (or chicken alternative) with a peach, mint and onion salad and roasted potatoes.  The lamb was absolutely delicious and the salad was very surprising, must try that myself.  I did dessert, which was raspberry red slut jelly.  A Nigella dish of course with a name like that…  We had a super evening.  It’s so nice now to have friends out here, some permanent, some frequent visitors like ourselves.

Weather still hot here.  31C during the day.  The pool is 28C.
