Nails and Curry Night

Got a few bits of admin done first thing this morning. My countdown reminded me that we are about 31 days out flying to Florida for the winter months. Arrival testing for the States has just changed and instead of getting a test up to 72 hours before departure, it now has to be within 24 hours. Actually, this is not a problem because they accept an antigen Fit to Fly test certificate and that is a very fast result. We could have booked with Express Test at Heathrow for the day we leave but that seemed slightly nervewracking for some reason so we have booked with Wren Healthcare at their centre in Sandwich. Quite a contrast to Cyprus. We had an antigen test this week – complete with certificate – at a private hospital in Kyrenia, undertaken by a qualified nurse and it cost £2.50. The Wren one costs £39 and you do it yourself while a technician watches you!!!!! Just another confirmation that some people are making a lot of money out of covid and there is a great deal of vested interest in prolonging the tests and restrictions. Anyway, we are booked in for January 2nd .

I went off to get a manicure and pedicure at 10am so that I am all spick an span for the TFR Xmas Dinner tomorrow night and for returning to the UK. My lady, Olga, is just amazing. She laboured over myh hands and feet for about 2.5 hours and it cost a measly £22 including tip. I shall never go to anyone else in Cyprus now I’ve found her place. It’s next door to the Soul List cafe/bar in Alsancak on the main road.

Bob did more jobs and continued moving water from the balance tank to the pool and to the garden tank and the plants. There’s not much left now so we will be ready for the big tank clean on Sunday.

Tonight we went out for dinner with Pamela, Eddie, Mike, Linda and Deborah. We went to Kamares the Pakistani restaurant. It was Deborah’s last night as she flies back to the UK tomorrow. She’s been great company on this stay as of course was David when he was here too. We had a great night, such good company and chat. The food was excellent. I had a lamb balti that was extremely tender and also some sag on the side. YUM! Always my favourite.
