Had a good night’s sleep in our new place and woke up to the sun coming up over the sea. The beach around us is really beautiful, quite wild and pretty undeveloped, just a few beach houses in sight going up towards main Cocoa Beach, hardly anything to the south. We are on the top floor and have the end apartment directly looking out over the beach. Fantastic view. This is a nice little place. It’s not super glamorous but it is very comfortable, clean, has everything we need including a full kitchen and lots of living space. It’s a great beach house.

Our apartment is the top floor with the deck outside.

We are about 8 miles from Cape Kennedy and we can see the Vehicle Assembly Building and the rocket on the launch pad in the distance. I used the telephoto on my camera to zoom in and in fact there are two rockets there. One – SpaceX Falcon 9 – is due to launch tomorrow morning, launching 46 Starlink satellites. Like all the SpaceX rockets, the first stage will land on a barge site, rather than be jettisoned. The one tomorrow has already been used 10 times. Such amazing technology.

We went for breakfast to a little place up the road called Surfology. It was excellent, all organic food. Bob and I had smashed avocados on toast with hardboiled egg and drizzled with a spicy red sauce and coconut bacon. Stuart had a vege enchillada, Fi had turkey bacon, avo and tomato sandwich. We had fabulous coffee and the others had juices too. We are trying to eat healthier and more frugally now for the rest of the time.

We had a run to the Publix supermarket and picked up a few supplies. Then back to the apartment. Fi was feeling pretty rough, sniffly and headachey. We tested her and it was negative but she is definitely not so well. Bob watched the Indy 500. I went for a long walk on the beach. The water is definitely warm enough to swim in – or at least splash in. The weather today was sunny and hot and the wind has greatly lessened. Stuart also went on an even longer walk.

Bob and I went over to Fran and Dave’s house late afternoon. We sat and chatted for a while and then went to Grilles at Riverside for dinner. There was a great band playing and we made a group with Stacy and Doc, Buddy, Bobo and Janet….. so a big table. Had a lovely seafoodish dinner and good chat.

Came back about 8pm. Fi still not well at all. Hope she will be better tomorrrow.
