Another fantastic breakfast…. another day at Salamis Beach. The beach bar was setting up for a massive beach party tonight. Big sound system being installed. A dance floor. Decorations. Luckily, all was extremely peaceful till about 3pm when the sound checks started. We stuck it out till 4 and then beat a retreat. But… idyllic up till then. The water was so lovely today. So utterly clear…..

Tonight we intended to eat somewhere down in the Famagusta old town square area ie near the Cathedral-Mosque. However we had underestimated how very big a deal Halloween was here particularly with the Turkish National Day tomorrow. Massive. Everywhere was massively booked out, there were big banks of speakers, lights, lasers…. all set up for a big one. And endless cars pouring in…. people in spooky costumes. It looked like a lot of fun but being old fuddy duddies, lol, we retreated to the city walls near our b&b and got a table right up against the walls at a bbq/kebaberie that had a live music night on.

Lovely mixed kebab plate with a salad bowl, chips, 3 meze dishes….. right in the mighty stone walls of Famagusta – the unconquered – as it is known. Delicious meat and accompaniments under the full moon. Bob had a beer. I had 2 large glasses of red wine.
Our b&b hosts turned up to support the live duo who also play at their place on occasion. Nice music. Rather Spanish in some respects.. 2 rounds of Turkish Coffees and brandies and a short walk home to our place which – thank god – is blissfully peaceful. About £30 for everything including service.
