Gosh… it was wonderful to wake up and feel at least half way human this morning. No headache or fever. Hacking cough: tick! But I can live with that. I had a leisurely start, breakfast of plain toast and tea in the cabin. Bob went for a restaurant breakfast. Then I had a lie in and went up to the Winter Garden lounge on the top deck and read. Bob joined me for a while and then went to the last lecture from the forensic dentist for this voyage – cases where no body was ever found. We met up again for lunch.
The weather was nice today. People were in the pool. We sat out on the sun deck for the afternoon with our books which was so lovely. I didn’t really want to do anything that required concentration… other than reading… so it was ideal…. and so great to feel the heat. The sun was strong.
We had a great night tonight. Started at 6pm with an early musical show from the resident company. Absolutely stupendous in every way. Spectacular singing, dancing, costumes…. energy… wowzer. So good. Then we were invited to another cocktail party with the officers and Captain, this one for everyone getting off in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday. It was a great party – drinks freely flowing and nice canapes. Cunard have really pushed the boat out on the cocktail parties this leg, I think because the weather has been less than ideal. Certainly we haven’t bought a drink since we’ve been on board…… free champagne at dinner several nights, 2 bottles of champagne to the cabin and 3 cocktail parties on a 12 night cruise… not bad…
After that a very nice dinner and chat to people on the adjoining table. oooh…. we met a couple at the cocktail party who put our trips to shame. I forget all the details but they sailed from Southampton with us on the 9th, and don’t return to the UK till the end of May. During that time they will have cruised to Florida, cruised the Caribbean, done numerous Amtrak journeys in the States and Canada, stayed in Vegas, cruised to Hawaii, and then finally cruised back to the UIK. They don’t fly or drive on holiday so all their travel is by sea, train or coach…. amazing. Anyway…. the couple we spoke to at dinner were staying on QV to Rio and then flying home. They had also done some interesting trips. Love meeting people and talking about travel and learning what others do. Some ideas would not suit us, some ideas we couldn’t afford…. sometimes you pick up a gem!!

Finally we went to the late night ie 10pm show which was the comedian. So very funny. I laughed till I coughed is all I can say…. very very funny. Turned in feeling a lot better even than this morning. My cough is horrible and I think I will start some antibiotics as I think it is past a normal cough now and may need some help.
