Across Florida to Queen Victoria

We were up at 5am and away for 530. Sad to say goodbye to Danny who has been a great host, but consoled we will see him in June when he comes to stay with us.

It was pitch dark for the first 90 minutes of our journey which took us on highway 70 due east across the state through quite a rural area. There was a huge full moon in the sky. We skirted around the very bottom of Lake Okeechobee just as the sun started to come up ahead of us. It was quite amazing as we turned south towards Fort Lauderdale to have the full moon on one side of the car and the sun rising on the other.

By that point we had left the citrus groves behind and were driving through huge fields of sugar cane. Got to Hertz in Fort Lauderdale at about 10am and that all went ok. They still wanted to charge us $140 local taxes so we will have to take that up with booking.com as per their instructions. Not sure if it will ever result in a refund but will give it a go.

Iguana at Hertz

Got a UberXXL to the cruise terminal and got there about 11am. Had to wait till just after 12 to board which was a pain but it was then a quick process and our cabin was all ready for us. We have the same sort of huge indoor cabin we had on the way out. Very pleased with that.

We unpacked and then went up and had a bit of lunch in the buffet. Sorted out our wifi package. Bob seems to have lost his cufflinks which is a big shame if true. We will have another search of the luggage tomorrow when we are not so tired.

Had a FT call with Stuart and Fi and also spoke to the girls.

We sail at 10pm. Dinner and a show first.  Tomorrow we are in Grand Bahama for the day. Planning a beach day….
