Sunday Brunch at The Wild Duck

A great start to a sunny Sunday. I met Deborah, David and Pamela at the Wild Duck restaurant on the edge of Lapta for brunch.

Nearly all restaurants here are extremely child friendly but The Wild Duck takes that to new heights. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating and is totally enclosed by secure childproof fencing and gates. It is set in a very large garden that has a variety of play equipment: swings, wooden adventure/climbing structures, a lovely paddling pool, giant chairs, small slides, and in the corner an enclosed pond and house for a flock of big white Jemima Puddleduck ducks!!!!

It’s small child heaven and great for parents because they can enjoy drinks and food at the outdoor tables while watching their offspring play happily around them. The food and drink is excellent, generous and very well priced. Deborah and David’s daughter, Emma and her husband Az own the Wild Duck and have built it up to be the success it is, very much a family affair.

Anyway, we lingered over brunch for about 4 hours, chatting and enjoying cafetieres of excellent coffee and breakfast. I had perfectly poached eggs on toast with sausages. Yum.

Anyway, if you are coming to stay with small children (or even if not) I do recommend a visit to the Wild Duck. It’s easy to find. Take the coast road through Alsancak and Lapta and after you pass Silver Rocks to the right, you will see the Wild Duck on the left hand side of the road with parking outside off the road.

Came home around 2 and did some watering in the garden and finished watching the new Bridget Jones film on the tv.

A quiet evening of eating in and Netflix.
