The Inevitable

Well it had to happen after that flight from Heathrow! Bob and I both woke up yesterday morning with the start of heavy colds. His worse than mine. We couldn’t face the heat of the beach so we rested up in the apartment all day, reading, sleeping and feeling a bit sorry for ourselves, cursing our fellow passenger and her careless spittooning and coughing. We were meant to be dining in a big group at Dropadi in Palolem but we felt we couldn’t take our germs along to our friends, so we ate alone at Sea View: shared a lovely prawn biriani and a vegetable curry. Came back and watched tv on Bob’s ipad.

This morning I felt a ton better although not back to normal. Bob was better but still very thick with cold and with a hacking cough. He decided to stay put for another day. I went down to the beach and had a very pleasant day under an umbrella, reading. I did have 2 dips in the sea. Nice to catch up with everyone and hear what they’d all been up to.

Came back to the room at about 330 and rested up.

Met John and Sue at Eve’s and then walked down for dinner on the beach at Tantra. A lot of the places here still have their xmas lights up and it looks really nice. It was a good sunset.

Nice dinner of prawn masala, vegetable curry, rice and an onion kulcha all of which we shared. Good chat as usual and a really good evening. Had ice creams from the gelataria on the way back up the lane. I couldn’t resist.

Pretty sure we’ll be back to the beach tomorrow.
