Our Last Full Day in Estepona

Well…. I still woke up at 0630 despite not having any baby duties this morning! A beautiful day here again. Bright sun and very warm temperatures. Bob and I took the opportunity for a lie on in bed and then went down to the main pool at about 10. It was very quiet. I think Saturday must be their main changeover day here because it did get a bit busier at about 4pm when I suppose new arrivals got here.

Anyway we had a great day lying in the sun and scooting under umbrellas until about 430. Bob went back for lunch about 1. I had mine down by the pool, too lazy to get up. We did venture into the pool about 5 or 6 times although it was truly icy. You had to keep moving or the ice pack closed in around you!!!!

It was just so nice to lie there in the hot sun and relax. We have had a lovely week but a day off at the end was most welcome.

Tonight we went out to dinner in the nearby village of Cancelada. We went to this restaurant, the Bodequita Santa Maria, when we were here in 2023 and really, really enjoyed it, so we were keen to go back. We were not disappointed. Had a lovely dinner sitting outside the restaurant in the little flower filled pedestrianised lane that it opens onto. The wait staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and the food is just delicious. They gave us two little hors d’oevres while we perused the menu and then we started with vegetable tempura and a plate of cheese and jamon (ham) croquetas. The croquetas were so delicius, smooth and deeply flavoured. Then Bob had a skewer of monk fish and king prawns and I had octopus pil. Fabulous. All washed down with a bottle of the house white wine which was so great we took a photo so that we could try and buy some. By the end we were full up, no room for dessert. The bill was £100 so not cheap but good value for a special night out at the end of a lovely week in the sun.

We really like the Marriott Playa Andaluza and we would hope and choose to come back here again. It’s a great resort, super comfy, well positioned between Estepona and Marbella and with the Aldi within a few minutes walk.

Tomorrow we are up quite early and driving away for 8am. Our flight is at midday and home in the UK about 230. I will blog about the journey home just to let you know how exiting Spain while the new EU immigration system is bedding in, goes. Hopefully it will work well enough….
