We were up early and off to Animal Kindom at WDW. It was boiling hot even at 8am. We got to the park at about 825 and they opened the gates at 845. It felt pretty busy. We made a beeline to Kilimanjaro Safaris in Africa first. I like to go on that early in order to see the most animals. We walked on more or less and there were plenty of animals out in the gamelands, perhaps not as many a in Sptember. We saw hippos, rhinos, giraffes, a lion, cheetahs, different gazelles, flamingoes, and elephants. An excellent wildlife experience. From there we walked into Asia and took a ride of the Kali River Rapids. This is a white water raft experience where you definitely get wet. It was pretty refreshing to be honest.
The girls then went on Expedition Everest while Bob sat it out. We’ve ridden it before. Its a rollercoaster ride that begins benignly with a nice ride up Everest to see the Yeti. Then as he appears, the car shoots backwards at the most incredible rate, zooms through dark caves and winds all the way down. So… didn’t really want to repeat that! The girls enjoyed it though.
Into Dinosaur and then we ended by going to two really good shows. The first was Finding Nemo which is a brilliant puppet and human musical based on the film. It is really just so good, very colourful and with beautiful puppets.
The second show is the Festival of the Lion Kin. A musical based on the film with a circus theme and again brilliant puppets and animatronics. We really enjoyed it.
By now it was around 1230 and it was as usual boiling. We knew that we would be returning to the park later in the week but we’d had enough today. We left the park and dropped Daisy back at the condo so she could work on some job applications that were due. Bob Lucy and I went to the Mall at Millenia so that Lucy could look at some homeware stores. First we went to Pottery Barn where we hoped to find some bedding sets that we’d seen online. Unfortunately they had very little in stock. Lucy got some cushion covers and towels though. Then we went to Crate and Barrel and she chose some dinnerware that she will try and get online and shipped home and she bought a throw. We will have to have a visit to Bed Bath and Beyond and see what they have in stock.
Went home for a quick snack and the Lucy and Bob went off to Disney’s Oak Trail golf course for a round. Bob’s played it before, Its a great 9 hole course, very well kept and quite challening and nice even just to walk round. I relaxed and put the dinner on. We were having a rack of pork ribs . Yum!
