Kalkan

As per our new plan, we spent the day in Kalkan today. On the corner of the harbour is Indigo Beach Club, a rather swish place, that has built wooden decks out over the sea on the opposite side of the harbour wall. It was 30 ytl for the day to have a lounger, umbrella, beanbag and full service.
The weather was very hot and sunny – about 32C. The sea was icy cold. I mean totally icy! Beautifully blue and clear but sooooo cold! The air was so hot though, you had to keep going in. I had about 6 swims, teeth gritted until I went numb enough not to care!!!!!
It was really enjoyable, relaxing. I read my kindle and chatted. A bit like a day in Patnem with colder seawater 😊
We came back to the boat for lunch as it was only a couple of minutes walk and a lot cheaper.
At 430, we got free tea and cake at the beach club. Finally gave up at 5ish and had an excellent shower in their facilities: all marble and massive shower heads. Felt very luxurious!
Quite impressed with Kalkan. It’s very upmarket, nicely designed with tasteful architecture. Quite a few smart, “lounge” style bars along the waters edge. Not such a nice old town area as Kas, but still good. I could easily spend a week or two in either of them. Kalkan is more expensive that Kas in terms of restaurants and probably twice the price of Cyprus.
We ate dinner at a restaurant in the old town called Kosk. We sat on their roof terrace and watched the sunset. I had sea bass stuffed with spinach in a blue cheese and mustard sauce. It was fab. Stuart had seafood casserole and everyone else had steaks. All excellent and massive portions. The bread was spectacular
