Holi, Colours, New Arrivals and A Boat Trip with Eagles – Travels with Allie.
Had a lovely first day of leisure around the resort. The weather was nice agan – 25C and scattered clouds. The sun was hot when it was out. Stuart went to the lap pool and swam 30 laps as a kickoff to his get-fit campaign.

After breakfast in the apartment we decided to go on a nature walk organised by the resort. It started from the boathouse on the other side of the lake. I suppose it took about 30 minutes and was a bit on the “lite” side but interesting enough. The lake is entirely manmade and it is stocked with fish and other wildlife has come to reside in it. There is fishing on offer but its catch and release. There are various types of fish in the lake and we saw some mega size bass as we walked around. We also saw some terrapins swimming on the surface. It’s not unlikely there are alligators but didn’t see any of them. Apparently the lake has dark dye in it to hold back algae forming and also fountains and underground springs to keep the water moving and prevent algae and stagnation.

All around in the plantings there are conservation measures – bee boxes, butterfly gardens, and bat boxes. The guide explained quite a few of the unusual plants and trees. We saw cormorants out on the lake and different ducks and water birds. It was a nice walk.

After an early lunch, Fi and I went to the pool near our apartment, by the lake and Bob and Stuart went off and played golf on the resort course. It was really nice to peg out in the sun. I fell asleep for a while – still adjusting to the time difference. The boys enjoyed the golf, quite a challenging course. Bob expected to be hammered but Stuart fell foul of the water hazards and lost an all time record 10 balls. They used that as an excuse to go back to Walmart to buy another box of them and get some extra bits we’d missed!!!!
A quiet evening in, I cooked italian sausages and we watched tv.
