Music Night and Dinner at Dropadi

Bob is still not 100%. He has had 2 more days where he has to go back to the room by lunchtime and sleep in the cool. He started on some antibiotics today and hopefully they will help him fight back against the cough and general lurgy.

Last night we went to Pahadi Roots to see our friend Mark, “The Professor”, play in a duo with his friend, Mandolin Dave. They play a lovely set of folk and acoustic music and even had a dance section towards the end when the, admittedly, rather elderly, (yes who am I to talk!!!) crowd got up and showed the younger attendees how to “shake that thang”….. A very good night. It’s a nice restaurant too. Not on the beach but just one road back. It was packed. Food was good as were the drinks.

We sat near the door and were greeted on entry by a little puppy who took a fancy to me and then proceeded to try and gum my arms and clothes in a kind of toothing frenzy. I tried to block him off with a pillow but he was very determined. In the end the bar owner put him on a lead and tied him up. Then some fairly feral children came in with their parents and made the poor pup’s life hell by dragging him up and down the bar. After about an hour of this, they dropped his lead and he came charging back to me, jumped straight into my arms and was asleep within about 5 seconds. His little heart was pumping away. I just let him sleep their cradled like a baby for the rest of our visit. I hope he will be ok.

We’ve had some departures and arrivals. Janet’s sister, Hilary, husband Martin and friend, James left last night and Deborah and David, friends from the UK and Cyprus arrived. Lovely to see them and to catch up on their travelling news.

Tonight we went to Dropadi in Palolem, always a great treat. Our tuk got stuck behind a bus on the main road and took us on a Mr Toad Wild Ride through the back lanes in order to get ahead of it. Had a lovely meal – 15 of us – as usual there. i had prawn masala and Bob had chicken jalfrezi with a garlic butter naan. Very enjoyable evening.
