Ozzie from Gunray Rentacar sent a lovely taxi to pick us up for the airport at 930. He was going to drive us himself but one of his cars had been involved in an accident in Esentepe and he had to go and sort it out.

It was a lovely day and our Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul took off on time. I had a window seat and got a super view of the east side of the island as we took off, passed over the top of our lovely Besparmak Mountains and then out over the sea. The dramatic contrast of the mountains so close to the sea is what makes the northern coast so beautiful in our opinion.

Had a few hours at Istanbul Airport before our BA flight back to London. That flight was about 50 minutes late taking off due to some air traffic controller shortages at LHR. The pilot made an effort to catch up and I suppose we were 20 minutes late landing. Got our luggage, car and drove to a Premier Inn in Kings Langley, about 30 minutes away. We have a fantastic wedding to go to tomorrow in Ely Cathedral and then a few days drifting home seeing friends before we get back to Folkestone on Tuesday. Then a big birthday celebration on Wednesday with our friends, Penny and Dave, and Thursday the girls and Geri come down for the weekend!!!! No chance to get to the weeding etc for at least a week. Ah well…….
