This is Republic Day weekend in India. Monday is the big day with parades particularly in Delhi. A bit…. well.. a lot less so down here but still a major holiday weekend for Indians. We got to the beach early – about 845 – and had breakfast at Sea Front and then a good day of sunning, swimming and reading. The sea was very clear and limpid in the morning. Bit of a breeze ruffled it in the afternoon but still very pleasant.

Bob played rumicube after lunch and we packed up about 330 and did some supermarket shopping on the beach road. We are really getting into our apartment breakfasts – omelettes etc. We bought a dozen eggs, fresh milk, butter, bread, mushrooms, 3 sorts of spice, lots of different yummy biscuits, fruit and nut mixes for our yoghurts, oh and most important… loo rolls. Got a tuk to take us back.

Tonight was a big night at Eve’s. Joseph had organised a quiz night and it was a big deal for the animal charities. All the tables sold out. Kate and Mark helped out with microphones and also question posing for some of it. 50 questions on general knowledge. It was pretty hard to be honest. Teams of no more than 4 and we were a 3 with Chris.

Had a nice bit of dinner there first. It was a very convivial atmosphere. Amazingly, we won!!!! And by a 5 point margin. I thought we’d done ok but we actually won!!!! Most enjoyable and all for a good cause. Thank you so much to Joseph and Kate for organising and hosting it. It was really good.
