Sunny Pool Day

We spent the morning on tasks….. firstly we headed out east of Kyrenia to Karakum. We are having the chair cushions for the dining terrace area re-made in new fabric and with new stuffing. The place we always go for any curtains or upholstery is Mermaid Fabrics out there. They are brilliant, have absolutely loads of different fabrics and best of all, they give firm estimates on time and money and stick to them. We’ve had a couple of experiences with other companies where they make brave promises on delivery times and then over run them many times over. So now, it’s always Mermaid.

Bob’s reward for coming with me was breakfast at Tim’s Cafe. He really likes breakfast there. It’s a proper Brit place. The breakfast menu is many variations of the Full English. I had 2 fried eggs, 2 sausages and a mug of Earl Grey. Bob had what was termed the Medium Full English. It consisted of two eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, tomato, fried bread, hash brown and toast. He had English breakfast tea. All very nice. Our bill was about £12. Great value.

On to Mermaid and I sorted out the lengthening of the pergola curtains and also chose fabric for the dining chairs. Am waiting to hear the timescale. The Boss Lady wasn’t there and we didn’t want to wait.

Home with a stop at Starling Supermarket at the bottom of our hill just to pick up a few bits.

Got into swimwear for more water fun ie jet washing the pool loungers. They have picked up a lot of the yellow sand blown in over the winter. Comes off very easily with the jet wash but it takes a long time because of all the molded angles of the loungers. Got finished about lunch time which we had on the dining terrace. The weather is just lovely at the moment. 28C and utterly cloudless. Just so nice. In the evening it drops down to about 21C. We are eating all our meals outside of course. It’s perfect. And at night, because it’s so clear, and not a lot of light up here, the stars are just amazing. Bob has put his astronomical telescope into the shipment on it’s way out here and it will be a nice asset.

We saw the parapenters up today, flying from the mountains behind the house. I’ve done it twice and it’s a fabulous experience. So peaceful yet so exciting. The guy who owns Highline Flights is hugely experienced, literally thousands and thousands of flights in Cyprus, Turkey and New Zealand and he’s funny too. On my first flight, I probably looked a bit nervous as he was lacing me into the kite. He told me that all (ALL! HA!) I had to do , was run towards the cliff edge when he told me and to keep my legs running but not to jump….. “I know” he said, “Pretend a big Turkish man is behind you, chasing you!”!!!! “OMG he is! RUN RUN”! And that made me laugh and we ran for the cliff edge….

Spent the rest of the afternoon in and around the pool, swimming and floating… napping…. just enjoying being in the water.

Tonight, Bob barbecued for the first time on this holiday. We had sirloin steaks with sweet peppers, garlic mushrooms and sweetcorns wrapped in their leaves and silks. We ate beside the pool which was so nice.

Watched tv, Netflix. Another lovely day…..
