Kyrenia and Dinner at Hoots

We headed down to Kyrenia yesterday morning on a quest for John and Susan to find a Turkish lamp. They wanted a gourd one like the gorgeous ones we purchased some years ago from Tervetuloa restaurant. Unfortunately the lady owner has stopped making them – too busy with the restaurant. So…. they also liked our mosaic glass table lamps which we bought from a shop in Kyrenia. Hence the visit.

The weather has turned really hot now. Anyway, zounds! When we got to the lamp shop, there was a note on the door saying “sorry I’ll be back at 130”!!!! We walked down to the Ancient Harbour and had cold drinks in a cafe there, admired the castle and the new paving that reveals the archaeological dig beneath. It really is a lovely spot. John and Susan decided it was serendipity that they didn’t get the lamp this morning and so we came back home and had lunch on the terrace.

Spent the afternoon sunning and swimming in the pool.

In the evening we went up the road to Hoots for dinner. John and Bob had fillet steak, Susan and I had amberjack fish skewers which were absolutely mega. Delicious. Then we had desserts. With a bottle of wine and some beers and service, it came to about £60 per couple. Lovely dinner. And a lovely sunset too.

The stars and moon were so clear last night. We stood in darkness on our terrace and looked upwards admiring them. The moon is a proper little sickle at the moment.
