Driftwood Beach Club

We decided we would have a change from the pool today. Bob was going to the canasta club at the Blue Song in Lapta, from lunchtime, so we decided to spend the morning at one of the beach clubs there. The one at Driftwood restaurant sounded nice – we like the food there – so we picked that. I would stay on there for the afternoon and he would pick me up about 430 when all the canasta finished.

The deal at Driftwood is that they provide a clean beach with loungers, waiter service, umbrellas, showers and access to food either on the beach or in the restaurant. It’s all free of charge as long as you buy some sort of food or beverage during your stay. No minimum spend required.

We got there about 10am and it was already quite busy but we got two nice loungers and a massive umbrella on the beach. We asked for 2 coffees and a bottle of water and they came quickly. I have to say the coffee was about the nicest I’ve had in Cyprus. We had a really nice morning there, reading under the umbrella and having the odd bob about in the water.

I ordered lunch about 1215. Bob was getting lunch at canasta club but he had a few of my chips and some tomato from the salad. I ordered a cheese and tomato omelette which came with said chips and salad and another large bottle of water. It was really good and not bad value for a fiver. Really liked it here and would certainly come again. Service was friendly and prompt. The whole day with 2 coffees, lunch for me and 2 litres of water was £20 with service and of course the loungers and umbrella were free.

I had a leisurely afternoon till about 330 when the phone pinged and it was our contracts of sale and purchase from the solicitor back in Kent. Ready for us to sign electronically to authorise the sale of our house and the purchase of the bungalow. Also to sign the new Deed of Variation required for our estate lease contract. Exchange of contracts must be imminent. I rang Bob because we needed a witness to sign for the D of V and he asked Pamela who was at canasta too. He came to get me about 415 and we went back to the Blue Song and while we waited for Pamela’s game to finish Bob and I electronically signed our contracts. Then when she was free we signed the D of V in front of her and then she had to sign as witness. And it was done!!!! Next thing will be when the lawyers exchange these contracts and we find out our confirmed move date. Probably 31st July.

Anyway, a momentous day. We came home, had a swim in the pool, a nice dinner and watched the last 3 episodes of a crime drama we’ve been watching on Netflix.
