Another beach day! We decided to spend the day at what is probably our closest beach: Golden Bay. It is about 8 minutes drive from our house. It’s a lovely circular bay with golden sand along the shore and rocky woods to one side and low cliffs to the other. About half the beach is taken up with umbrellas and loungers belonging to the Deniz Kizi hotel, and with it’s beach cafe running behind them.

The other half of the beach is owned by Alsancak municipality and they also provide loungers and umbrellas. On the terrace behind are more loungers on an astroturf surface, and there is also a very nice restaurant/cafe and children’s playground.

We have frequented both sides of the beach and found the facilities to be very much the same. However the Deniz Kizi side charge more for both parking and for the lounges. We generally now go to the municipality side because the parking is free and the lounges are half the price. There is waiter service to the beds and you can run a tab throughout the day. The beds were 200 tl each.

We plonked on two beds on the astroturf level and settled in to read. The water was fabulously clear and warm and we had so many bobs and swims today. It wasn’t overly busy, especially at first, and thankfully, no music at all. We had several large bottles of water and shared a plate of burger and chips, which was absolutely mega.
It got a bit busier as the day went on but we really had a lovely day there. Absolutely gorgeous.
We came home about 430 and jumped into our pool to clear off the salt! Also blissful! Sat out and had a glass of white wine before Bob cooked us a lovely Chinese recipe of fish in a parcel. Delicious. What a nice day!.
